246. Previously, you had faith in me but today it is different. You don’t have that faith anymore. Whatever done by you is yours. Such bad conduct as you think is not found in me.
247. Ordinary people’s faith is truly impermanent. It changes in a moment. I have seen it clearly. Sometimes they show faith and are pleased. But other times, they lose faith and are displeased. Would a sage get upset because of that? Of course not.
248. In this house and that, a little bit of rice here and there is cooked for a sage. Therefore, I survive on my alms round and still have strength in my legs.
