The Verses of Arahant Mātaṅgaputta (231-233)

231. Saying “Now it is too cold”, “Now it is too hot”, and “Now it is too late in the evening,” some people become negligent and lose the opportunity for improvement in their occupation. These people will also miss this very rare opportunity.

232. One should ignore cold and heat as if they were grass. If one strives with manly energy, one will not lose happiness.

233. I push through dabba grass, kusa grass, potakila grass, usīra grass, muñja grass and bulrushes. I devote myself to seclusion.

These verses were said by Arahant Mātaṅgaputta.
