TheragāthāThag 3.1
The Verses of Arahant Aggikabhāradvāja (219-221)

219. Seeking purity in the wrong way, I was offering fire sacrifices in the forest. Not knowing the path to Nibbāna, I practiced various austerities. But they did not benefit me in any way.

220. But see the excellence of the Dhamma! I achieved the Supreme bliss of Nibbāna through a happy path. I achieved the Triple Knowledge, the Buddha’s path has been fully followed by me.

221. Previously, I was a Brāhmin just in name. But now I am a true Brāhmin. I possess the Triple Knowledge. Washing away defilements, I have reached the goodness, the culmination of the Dhamma practice.

These verses were said by Arahant Aggikabhāradvāja.
