TheragāthāThag 4.12
The Verses of Arahant Mudita (311-314)

311. I became a monk just to survive. But after I received higher ordination, a great faith developed in me. I strived with great effort.

312. Yes, let this body be broken into parts. Let the lumps of flesh in this body dissolve. Let both my legs fall from the knee-joints.

313. Until I uproot the dart of craving I shall not eat anything; I shall not drink anything; I shall not go out of my hut, nor shall I lie down on my side.

314. I strived like that. See my great effort! I achieved the Triple Knowledge. The Buddha’s path has been fully followed by me.

These verses were said by Arahant Mudita.
